Skywalk Willingen
Germany
With a length of 665 meters, the Skywalk is the second longest self-supporting suspension bridge in the world
Supporting cables and struts made of steel hold the entire 120-ton structure. For the foundation of the two portal supports, 46 anchor and bored piles were driven into the ground.
Incidentally, the longest anchor was drilled 24 meters deep into the ground, as architect and engineer Uno Kleine said. This should make the bridge ready for heavy loads. A maximum of 750 people can walk on it at any one time.
A special feature: the bridge has hydraulic cylinders. This allows it to be pulled back a little and tightened in the event of a strong storm. So it doesn't dangle so much in the wind.
